Take a Virtual Family Vacation to Universal Orlando Resort With Us
We just got back from Universal Orlando Resort, unpacked our bags, and are now heading back again (good thing we’ve done the laundry!). We knew we were returning 2 weeks later for a trip to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, so the first time around we just caught the highlights (of which there were many). I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of what we should do, but my wife likes to remind me that I don’t really know as much as I think I know (love you, babe!).
So I’m asking for your help. Want to virtually join our family vacay? If so, let’s get the planning started!
The Rides
First of all… the rides! Are you into thrill rides, simulators, fun for the whole family, or all of the above? Check out the attractions below and let me know what your preferences are.
1. At Islands of Adventure, what 3 attractions do you suggest I go on and why?
- The Incredible Hulk coaster http://bit.ly/keJVF5
- Dr. Doom’s Fear Fall http://bit.ly/lHUBE0
- The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man http://bit.ly/iFX9R3
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls (water ride) http://bit.ly/jq4SP2
- Popeye & Bluto’s Rat River Barges (water ride) http://bit.ly/ieXD5m
- Jurassic Park River Adventure (water ride) http://bit.ly/lVzTvF
- Dragon Challenge coaster http://bit.ly/jBs6l8 (Keep in mind that this one has like 5 loops and is super
scaryawesome! Just sayin’.)
2. What 3 attractions should my family go on at Universal Studios?
- Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster http://bit.ly/muZzCI (feel free to comment, but I’m going on this one no matter what you say)
- The Revenge of the Mummy http://bit.ly/kDMGnX (this is in complete darkness, which saves the resort the cost of painting it every year)
- TWISTER… Ride It Out http://bit.ly/ivgK2h
- Disaster! http://bit.ly/mvAZhl
- E.T. Adventure http://bit.ly/kNkoOr
- Animal Actors on Location http://bit.ly/l3Ugqi
The Food
Let’s not forget the food! (It’s just an expression. If you’ve ever seen me it’s obvious that I never forget the food). The resort is full of different places to eat. Any suggestions, or should I just try them all?
3. There are lots of kid-friendly options for lunch at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and I need help. Where should my family and I eat lunch?
- Confisco Grille in Port of Entry http://bit.ly/mF5lx7
- The Burger Digs in Jurassic Park http://bit.ly/k32qYN
- Three Broomsticks in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter http://bit.ly/jgatKh
- Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendus in Seuss Landing http://bit.ly/moEtl3
4. We are eating at CityWalk one of the nights and we can eat at any of the below places. Where do you think we should go?
- NBA City http://bit.ly/jDwF27
- Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville http://bit.ly/ldKXoT
- Latin Quarter http://bit.ly/m2Y4uX
- NASCAR Sports Grill http://bit.ly/kHXquD
- Bob Marley – A Tribute to Freedom http://bit.ly/jtIIr3
The Treats
Finally… our two boys, ages 7 and 10, are wacky for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. So this last question is all about that.
5. The last time we were at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter we had both cold and frozen Butterbeer. Which one should we have this time? Cold or Frozen? (To be truthful, this is more of a hypothetical question because I’ll obviously be having both).
Miscellaneous
Finally… what have we forgotten to plan?
6. Any other recommendations? Stay tuned Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17 and 18 for our Universal Orlando Resort adventure. We hope you’ll virtually join us!
Disclosure: My upcoming trip to Orlando is part of an all-expenses-paid press trip provided by Universal Orlando Resort. The thrills, screams, adventure, and pre-planning excitement is all my own!
Here are my thoughts on each
At Islands of Adventure go on…
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man MUST SEE!!! This is a great ride and is one of the most popular with guests. It is my favorite! I think your boys would love it!
Popeye & Bluto’s Rat River Barges (water ride) FUN!!!! This water ride is a fun one, nice and relaxing although you have the opportunity to get soaked and if you don’t there are plenty of kids standing up top who will squirt you with a water gun.
Jurassic Park River Adventure (water ride) FUN!!!!! and scary I don’t normally go on things with drops but this one is cool and another that you will get wet on. Perfect for the Florida heat!
At Universal Studios go on? (at this park I am usually in the kiddie area with my toddler)
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster I have never been on this but you will like it if you like coasters.
The Revenge of the Mummy same as above 🙂
E.T. Adventure a timeless classic I would go just to hear E.T. say your name at the end!
FOOD:
Confisco Grille in Port of Entry – great food but every time I eat there I have had a problem with the service, being slow not checking on us, etc. I once waited 40 minutes for my bill….
The Burger Digs in Jurassic Park – okay burgers and good chicken
Three Broomsticks in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – this is a extremely popular restaurant, so much so that I have never gotten into it.
Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendus in Seuss Landing – Best pizza ever, in theme parks anyway
CITYWALK:
Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville – Hands down the best in CityWalk, amazing burgers, good seafood, and fun atmosphere.
On a side note they do have a Bubba Gumps in CityWalk, but I am not sure of food as I have never eaten there.
Oh, and I personally like the frozen Butterbeer better 🙂
